This film is a cut above the rest as Stanley Kubrick re-tells the classic tail of Stephen King's novel. A chilling film which will have you on the end of your seat from start to end. What the film does is that it shows a psychological break down in the mind of Jack Nicholson's character from start to finish. The main plot is simple yet compelling as it brilliantly shows how isolation from the rest of the world can send a man crazy. The reason why you can watch it over and over again because the audience does not know whether some characters like Mr. Grady are real or just a hallucination in the midst of panic and confusion. This is definitely one of my most favourite films by a long shot by showing a real inside into characters minds. One thing I would like to point out is that Kubrick uses the 'follow cam' so well that the scenes with Danny just pedalling around are so airy.
I definitely recommend the film for anyone who wants a horror/thriller which can blow your mind whilst it sends shivers down your spine.
